Frequently Asked Questions

What does cash-based physical therapy mean?

Essentially, this means that Crossover PT is a physical therapy clinic that does not work directly with insurance companies. Our patients pay Crossover PT directly each visit for the one hour session of personalized 1-on-1 manual-based physical therapy. Crossover PT can provide the codes needed to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if this applies to your plan.

Can you submit the bill to my insurance company?

We will not directly submit your bill on your behalf to the insurance company but we can provide the paperwork.

Why did Crossover Physical Therapy decide to provide cash based physical therapy in Saint Michael?

It is a reality in the healthcare industry that insurance companies are continually cutting reimbursement rates per patient. With the decline in reimbursement, many clinics are encouraging physical therapists to see more patients over the course of the day, decreasing the time of personalized 1-on-1 care with the patients. With a cash based practice, we are able to decide how we want to treat patients as we are not regulated by the insurance companies. This allows us to provide 1-on-1 care for our patients over the course of the one hour treatment session with the same physical therapist every time.

WHY should you choose a Cash-Based Physical Therapy practice?

It allows us to treat patients as we see fit without being dictated by insurance rules and regulations. This often times leads to fewer visits saving you money and time. Being able to dictate our course of treatment as we see most effective also leads to faster recovery times.

What makes Crossover Physical therapy different?

You can expect hour long personalized sessions that are one-on-one with the physical therapist. Course of treatment is not based on protocols dictated by insurance companies but rather catered to your individuality and unique needs. Crossover Physical Therapy’s primary focus is on Manual Therapy. We will not have you pay to do things in the clinic that we feel you can perform on your own at home.

Do I have to be a member of EffectUs Athletics to be a patient with Crossover Physical Therapy?

We are located inside EffectUs Athletics at 13060 43rd ST NE, Saint Michael, MN. However, our patients do not have to be a member to be seen in physical therapy. Our physical therapy practice inside of EffectUs Athletics allows us to make use of the equipment that it provides and allows for a smoother transition after discharge.

Is Crossover Physical Therapy included in my CrossFit or EffectUs Athletics membership?

Your membership does not include Crossover Physical Therapy services. Crossover physical therapy is a separate business entity ran by Dr. Michael Simon, DPT inside of EffectUs Athletics. Members will have the benefit to purchase performance packages at a discount to enhance their CrossFit experience and improve their execution of functional movements.

What’s the difference between a performance package visit and a treatment session?

A treatment session will be focused on returning patients to prior functional levels after a condition or injury. The injury/condition must be categorized as limiting and/or preventing you from performing activities of daily living. These sessions are medically necessary treatments.

The performance package visits are non-medical necessary sessions. Our performance sessions will be focused on improving stability and mobility within joints that are specifically related to helping you reach your personal goals. Whether those goals are to be able to perform an overhead squat or being able to take your dog for a walk.
