FAQs

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy (PT) is a licensed medical profession, with extensive training. Most Physical Therapist receive their doctorate and some also participate in Fellowships. PT includes diagnosing physical abnormalities, restoring physical function and mobility, maintaining physical function, and promoting physical activity and proper function.

Why Crossover?

Crossover Physical Therapy is committed to a high value experience. We are different than other PT clinics because you will spend your time 1 on 1 with your physical therapist. There are no one size fits all protocols at Crossover. Your plan of care will be individualized to meet your goals and will have the careful oversight of your physical therapist throughout your time with us. This model allows us to help patients crossover from rehab to health in fewer visits than at a traditional clinic.

What can I expect from my physical therapy session?

You can expect to spend a lot of time with your therapist at your first appointment understanding what caused you to seek out their care. During your initial evaluation, your PT will ask you a lot of questions to understand the history of the pain or disfunction you are experiencing. They will run you through some different tests to see how you are moving and what movements contribute to your symptoms. They will make an assessment of what is at the root of the problem and they will partner with you to make a plan of care. Your plan of care will likely include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and education.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is a treatment approach your therapist may discuss with you. The technique uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues to help decrease pain and improve functional movement.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, we are in network with most major insurance. We will help you verify your insurance benefits at the start of your plan of care. We do also offer you the option to opt out of using your insurance if it is more cost effective to you. We have a cash based program that offers an affordable model for patients that have a high out of pocket deductible or lack of insurance coverage.

How important is my home exercise program?

Your PT will give you a home exercise program. Working on these assigned exercises between scheduled visits is vital to achieving your treatment goals. It will give your therapist a greater opportunity to dive into more advanced therapeutic exercises, and manual therapy during your visit time. Good adherence to your home exercise program will help improve your muscle memory. This can give you the knowledge to sustain the gains long after you are discharged from PT.
