"I believe in the powerful effect exercise has on helping to live a healthy life.  Although I don't want to downplay the importance of recovery, nutrition, mental health, and social activities; I strive to be an ally to help people keep moving."

Jon Frikken, DPT

Physical Therapist

Meet Jon

Jon Frikken chose to become a physical therapist while working as a CrossFit coach and wanting to not only help people become fitter, but also overcome obstacles such as injuries or pain that inhibits them from being healthy.  Jon graduated from college originally with an M.S. (NDSU) and a B.S. (St. Cloud State) in construction management and worked in that industry for 5 years.  He started watching YouTube videos, reading web articles, and listening to podcasts and liked how physical therapists were talking about solving problems keeping people back from what they wanted to do.  Mostly, physical therapists were helping people overcome obstacles and strengthen themselves to achieve their goals.  After much debate and with the support of an overly understanding wife, he went back to school; eventually attending the University of Minnesota and becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Since then, Jon worked on his own out of CrossFit and other gym facilities while most recently completing a residency at Motion, a physical therapy clinic with multiple locations in the Twin Cities and 2 in Utah. The next step will be taking the OCS exam to become an orthopedic clinical specialist next Spring.

Jon and wife Jessie currently live in Anoka with their dog Kit.  They like to go for walks around the many parks of cities and head up to the north shore occasionally as well.  Jon likes to compete in CrossFit competitions on occasion, seeing the first one in 2012 which was the Cloudytown Throwdown and has enjoyed participating in multiple since.
